On June 18 and 19, First Nations’ Emergency Services Society (FNESS)’s Wildfire Division provided S-100 Training to Westbank First Nation’s Utilities and Public Works Department. This training was a milestone for FNESS because it was the first follow up, internally delivered, training session for the recently established Wildfire Division within FNESS’s Mitigation Department.

Last year, the wildfire training was delivered on June 9, only one month before the devastating McDougall Creek Wildfire threatened the community.

Additionally, Westbank First Nation’s Ntityix Resources LP also received Wildfire Training for the second consecutive year with the help of wildfire instructors externally contracted by FNESS.

FNESS, the Mitigation Department, and the Wildfire Division thank and commend Westbank First Nation for their involvement and work towards their Wildfire Resiliency.
