Rural Team Lead Training: Burns Lake, BC

On July 25-27, 2019, FNESS Fire Services department hosted the Rural Team Lead training at the Burns Lake Fire Department. The training was facilitated by an experienced team of Justice Institute of BC Instructors and included EMRG 1200 and Fire 1065 course work.
 
This training is designed to meet the job performance requirements of the BC Firefighter Minimum Competencies and Training Standard (The Playbook) for Exterior Team Leader. The target audience for this training is officers and leaders within First Nations fire departments.
 
Leaders will gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to lead and direct operations at a fire incident. Through scenario-based learning, learners will practice leading, directing and making decisions at typical types of fire incidents encountered within their communities.
 
The first day of training included EMRG 1200 (Incident Command 100) followed by two days of hands-on, team work focused, and scenario-based learning.
Future Rural Team Lead training will occur in the following Regions of BC:

  • Fort St John, BC: (TBD late August or early September 2019)
  • Thornhill, BC: September  9, 10 & 11, 2019
  • Quesnel, BC:  September  19, 20 & 21, 2019
  • Lillooet, BC:  Proposed for October 3, 4 & 5, 2019
  • Chilliwack, BC:  TBD late October/early November 2019
